The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) have advised derogation of Mpox Clades Ia and Ib from their classification as a High Consequence Infectious Disease (HCID) after consideration of evidence from United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA). This has been agreed by the 4 Nations Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) as outlined in Principles for the Control of Mpox in the UK: 4 nations statement.
Changes to the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual (NIPCM) include:
- Archiving of the Mpox IPC Advice for Healthcare Settings document
- Updates to Appendix 11 to reflect selection of appropriate respiratory protection and addition of footnote 8
- Updated Mpox A-Z entry
- A statement on the landing page of Appendix 15 to note the wording is currently under review to align with the added footnote 8 of Appendix 11
