Review and update of Appendix 13 - NHSScotland Minimum Alert organism and condition list
31 Mar 2025
The following updates have been made to Appendix 13
- Mpox has been added to the alert organism list
- The resistant organisms (unusual phenotypes) in Table 6 of Appendix 13 has been reviewed in line with the publication of the latest guidance by the European Committee on antimicrobial susceptibility testing (EUCAST) in December 2024 and January 2025. There are no changes to the list of unusual phenotypes included in Table 6 at this time. However the inclusion of tigecycline resistant Streptococcus species (Group A, B, C, and G beta-haemolytic streptococci) as an unusual phenotype in Scotland has now been placed under review. Further changes will be communicated in future. Additionally there has been a minor revision to terminology, including updating the term “intrinsic resistance” to “expected resistance” to describe organisms as per EUCAST rules.
