Following publication of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for safe Water Systems Literature Review in January 2025, ARHAI Scotland received feedback via the Water Survey Consultation that supporting materials such as a water checklist would be helpful to aid management of incidents and outbreaks.

It was acknowledged that these resources would take some time to develop, therefore it was proposed and agreed in May 2025 at the Infection Control in the Built Environment (ICBED) Working Group that ARHAI Scotland would review the archived 2015 Pseudomonas Aeruginosa outbreak checklist and widen its scope to reflect other water system associated organisms in line with the Literature Review. The interim checklist aligns with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for safe water systems literature Review, pending the development of new resources.

Local boards should assess its relevance for their own incidents.
